Chapter 01 — Sugar
From emergency rescue to a life full of trails.
Sugar arrived from Hesperia Shelter with her puppy, Juno, and a badly injured leg. Akira saw a loving mother who needed help.
After an emergency amputation and weeks of recovery with a medical foster, Sugar moved to another foster home. They quickly realized she was already family. Today she lives in Pasadena, plays with her dog brother Buster, and even joins her family on hikes.

Chapter 02Rescued at four months
Penny Lane
From pneumonia, trauma, and a broken rib to confidence, health, and a family of her own.
Hospitalization, weeks of treatment, patient socialization, and a committed foster gave Penny Lane the time she needed to trust again. Today, she is healthy, loving, and home.
Chapter 03Now named Khashi
Selene
Once sick, severely neglected, and scheduled for euthanasia—now safe, playful, and deeply loved.
After medical care and a gentle foster home helped her heal, Selene was adopted in September 2025. She now spends her days with her dog brother, Guinness, learning the joy of simply being a dog.
